The first person to begin making cuckoo clocks was Franz Anton Ketterer, a resident of Triberg, Germany. He was the first man to make a clock produce the trademark cuckoo noise. In following years other people in the Black Forest region of Germany learned his way and gradually the region turned into a huge clock manufacturing area. By 1800 over six hundred people in Black forest area became experts in the production of the cuckoo clock.
