1875 Seth Thomas 8 Day Lyre Movement Shelf Clock

Check this clock out! An interesting eight day rosewood shelf clock circa 1875. This has a small porthole in the lower section of the case to see the pendulum swing, and it has full turned columns on each side of the clock. This measures 15 7/8 x 10 5/8 inches, with a 5″ roman numeral dial, and a terrific lyre movement, eight day striking on a gong, with alarm component still intact that rings on a bell, the movement is signed by Seth Thomas, and made in Plymouth, Conn. A very early movement probably made 15 years earlier or so, and stored for later use. Bid now! This clock is also selling with NO RESERVE! Shipping is $30.00 within the Continental United States. ANTIQUE REGULATOR “A” WALL CLOCK SOLID ROSE WOOD CASE BY I.T.F USA IN EXCELLENT CONDITION

You are bidding on a very beautiful antique Regulator “A” wall clock with solid rose wood case and movement made in Korea by I.T.F Los Angeles (marked on the dial and on the back of the clock) and in good condition. Dial is clean and looks like new. Case has small chip on the lower left of the pendulum door (see pictures). It has  2 key wound holes to provide chimes every 30 minute, and one hour. Chime has 5 sound bars and all 5 working well. ”Regulator A “is clearly marked  glass door. Pendulum is brass finish, looks like new Movement is solid brass, working very well and keeping good time. It is hallmarked ” I.T.F unadjust. No jewel. Korea”. It is 22 1/2 inches tall, 12 inches in diameter on the round face and 7 inches thick . Solid rose wood case makes it very heavy (over 10 lbs) and it is working and keeing very good time. Sorry No Winding Key. CERAMIC

The word ceramic originates from the ancient Greek word keramikos, meaning potter’s clay. The practice of making ceramics has been in existence for nearly 30,000 years. Clay, the primary ingredient for any ceramic, is primarily made of aluminum silicate, which is a malleable soil from crumbling rocks. Ceramics can be grouped according to the type of clay used, the temperature at which the clay is fired, and the duration of the firing.

TRANSFERWARE

Transfer printing was developed in England during the 1750s as part of the Industrial Revolution as a way to speed up the mass production process, and thereby lower the price of the goods. An image is first engraved on a copper plate, which is then inked and stamped on a piece of paper or fabric. The paper or fabric is then laid on the unglazed piece after its initial firing, much like applying a decal. The object is then glazed and fired, which permanently transfers the image to the ceramic. The manufacturer Wedgwood is generally credited with the widespread popularity of this decoration process. Flow Blue, Staffordshire, Blue Willow and some Delftware are created by use of the transfer printing process.

GOOD

In overall good condition. Antique and vintage items by their very nature show normal wear to finish and miscellaneous scratches, nicks, and dings due to age and use. As we define ‘good condition’ relative to the stated age of the piece, we would expect to see ‘character marks’ consistent with that age and could include nicks or dings to a wooden, metal, enamel, or chalkware object, wear to a painted surface, speckling on a mirror, crazing, wear to gilding, or manufacturing glaze skips in ceramic finish, wear to a label, and some original decorative trim may be missing. If ceramic/porcelain restoration has been done, it is of museum-quality so that it is hardly discernible and would be specifically mentioned in the listing. ‘Good condition’ could include very small fleabite chips or very small hairline cracks in any glass, ceramic, or marble item, but these would be specifically mentioned in the listing.

DELFTWARE

The European craze for blue and white Chinese export porcelain in the 17th century lead to the development of the Dutch East India Company, which imported millions of pieces of Chinese porcelain as well as other Chinese wares. In 1620, the death of Wan-Li (Ming Dynasty) interrupted the flow of goods to Europe. Dutch potters from the city of Delft quickly filled the gap in the market with their own production of blue and white ceramics that duplicated the look of Chinese export porcelain by using the tin-glazing technique learned from the Italians. The Delft potters were the first northerners to imitate the tin-glazed earthenware pottery of Italian majolica, or faience. Production of Delftware proliferated and by 1700 there were more than 30 factories in production of high-quality pieces in the city of Delft.

Delftware drew on Chinese designs for inspiration, but also developed European patterns. Decorative plates were made in abundance and featured native Dutch scenes with windmills and fishing boats, hunting scenes, landscapes, seascapes, and scenes of people in daily life. When Chinese exports re-entered the European market by 1685, they came back in color, especially in greens and pinks. This sparked the production of Polychrome Delft, which refers to the use of colors other than blue and white. Besides the popular cobalt blue on a white background, Delft potters had a full color range that consisted of yellow, orange, brown, green, purple, dark red, and black.

Despite the huge success of Delftware manufacturers, the market for Delftware eroded through the 18th century until eventually only one factory in Delft remained in existence. Joost Thooft bought the last remaining Delftware factory, De Porceleyne Fles, in 1876. Since that time, over one hundred potteries have come back into existence producing what is known as modern Delftware, which no longer uses the tin glazing method of majolica.

In the period from 1876 to 1940, many high-quality, beautiful pieces of Delftware were produced. The transfer printing process was also brought back at this time. After World War II, tourism began to play a larger role in the Dutch economy. More Delftware companies opened in the 1950s to 1970s, specializing in pieces made for the tourist trade. Delftware has been produced in Holland, Belgium, Germany, England, Japan, and the US, and is still in production today.

MANTEL CLOCK / GARNITURE MANTEL CLOCK

Mantel clocks are relatively small, moveable clocks traditionally placed on a shelf, or mantel, above the fireplace. The form, first developed in France in the 1750s, can be distinguished from earlier clocks of similar size due to a lack of carrying handles. A Garniture Mantel clock is a three-piece set, which features a clock in the middle with two garnitures, or decorative sidepieces. Mantel clocks are often highly ornate, decorative works.

It has solid brass movement and marked “Made in USA” only, no trade mark. 2 screws to hold the back are missing  but has winding key on the back not on the front like other key wound mantel clock. It is 8 inches tall. 15 inches wide and 3 inches thick. Wooden case looks old but in excellent condition. No crack. No chip. This clock doesn’t chime. I’m not an expert for anything. Please look at the pictures or email me if you have any question. THIS BEAUTIFUL CLOCK HAS AN OPEN ESCAPEMENT AND A ROMAN NUMERAL CLOCKFACE – ROMAN NUMERAL NUMBERING WITH HASH MARKS. TWO KEY WIND. S/F ADJUST. ORNATE BRASS COLLAR. CLOCKWORKS APPEAR VERY CLEAN. Vintage Westclox [Germany] Small Alarm ClockMarked – Westclox on Face — Germany on the Backside

This is a Nice Vintage Small Westclox Alarm Clock.  It is in working condition. The face is beautiful with mother-of-pearl, roman numerals, and Gold Trim.  The hands have a glow in the dark enamel.  The brass needs some shining up, but no pitting on it.

This clock will make a nice addition for any clock collector

3 LONG GLASS PANEL CARVED REGULATOR WALL CLOCK

Here we are
offering a 3 long glass panel carved regulator wall clock. This item is made between
1900 to 1910. Its dimension is 25-1/4"H
x 11-5/8"W. This clock has an 8 day movement with hour
striking. We are not sure about the name of its maker, but its
origin is most likely far east. This clock is currently in working
order, however it’s not guaranteed, some adjustment may be required after delivery.
Please keep in mind that this is a used antique clock and it has
wear and tear. If you have
any questions, please feel free to email me.

Domestic SHIPPING Method:
All domestic
shipment will be sent via UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail. We

newspaper. Most items will be shipped out within 3 business
days. Once the item is shipped out, we will email the buyer with
